CLINICAL APPLICATIONS

Hemedex’s Bowman Perfusion Monitor® system has received most intense clinical interest and use in neurosurgical applications.   As noted in the literature cited in this section, its usefulness in the early detection of vasospasm  and other conditions of compromised perfusion specifically in managing secondary injury in TBI patients and in other neurosurgical applications is well documented.

The system has also proved useful in a variety of other applications as well, including organ transplantation, reconstructive surgery, and oncology.  While the scope of its usefulness in these other applications is still being determined, as noted in the cited literature, there are many major diseases, injuries and conditions for which blood perfusion data can improve treatment, cost, and ultimately patient outcomes.

The proprietary technology in the clinical application of thermal diffusion can be used to develop new products that will address unmet needs in many clinical areas (i.e. neurosurgical monitoring, organ transplantation, cardiovascular monitoring, reconstructive surgery, critical care and endothelial function, etc.).  As such, we anticipate that the variety and documentation of the many different clinical applications will continue to grow.
